My name is Md Mehedi Hasan from Bangladesh. I am currently pursuing a PhD in the School of Electrical Engineering, with a research focus on frequency dynamic estimation, measurement, and control of low inertia dynamic systems. From July 10th to 14th, I participated in the "AI + X Innovation Workshop - Generative Artificial Intelligence (AIGC) Technology and Applications" summer school held by the school's engineering training center. In the colorful courses, I experienced a "journey of AI world transformation".

During the course, Professor Xu Xinshun from the School of Software introduced the application of AI in various fields such as healthcare, electric vehicles, and transportation, allowing us to see the future shaped by intelligence systems. Zhang Hengxu, the director of the Engineering Training Center, gave a lecture on the theme of "AI for Science", demonstrating how the application of AIAgent can change practical research. We felt the importance of integrating AI into scientific methodology to promote innovation and discovery. Teacher Shang Yong taught us about AIGC-assisted writing, introducing how to scientifically use ChatGPT and various AI-based tools to improve content creation efficiency and simplify digital workflows. In Teacher Li Dongyuan's practical class, we explored the deployment of servers and local environments, the use of commercial-grade large-scale models and APIs, the local deployment of open-source large models, Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) technology, the construction and deployment of local chatbots, and how to use local and network-based Knowledge Base to achieve retrieval-enhanced generation (RAG). We learned how to fine-tune large language models (LLM) using local datasets. The practical class improved our ability to effectively apply artificial intelligence technology.

The course study of the "AI + X" Innovation Workshop has had a significant impact on my research methods for frequency dynamic estimation, measurement, and control of low inertia power systems. AI can achieve more accurate and real-time estimation and control of frequency dynamics, which is crucial for maintaining the stability of power systems with a high proportion of Renewable Energy penetration. The large language model (LLM) discussed in class can be used to enhance my data analysis and predictive modeling abilities in my research; the chatbot built based on the large language model can communicate with us based on our problems, further assisting our research and data analysis work; by using AIAgent, we can more accurately estimate appropriate frequency dynamics and develop robust control strategies to mitigate the impact of low inertia on power system stability.
The learning of "AI + X" Innovation Workshop was an extremely valuable experience for me. Although I encountered some language and equipment challenges at the beginning of the course, with the careful guidance of the teacher, I overcame these difficulties and gained a lot in this tense and fulfilling learning journey. This learning broadened our understanding of AIGC technology, enabled us to master basic practical skills, and we will continue to persist in learning and further explore the application and innovation of AI.
